Maintenance Loan not enough

Hello, I haven’t received my maintenance loan yet however it’s predicted to be around £6k for the whole year. However, my accommodation itself is £8k a year. My family cannot afford this, and as a student living away from my family in central London, I was aware that the maintenance loan could be up to £13k+, despite the fact that that is not guaranteed. I am also aware that the amount you get is based on your family income, however my family income is only around £14k as my parents are both ill and so I don’t really understand why mine is so low. This worries me as I don’t know what I’ll be able to do, as I was already considering declining my place to get a full time job at home to provide for my parents. Is there anything I can do?

Hi Sofia. Have your parents provided their income and has your application been income assessed? If so, just to check, has their income dropped by 15% or more from the 22/23 Tax Year compared to this current Tax Year (24/25) ? Thanks, David
