Aston Uni Welcome Week

So I'm starting my first year of Uni soon and I was wondering if the Welcome Week for new students (16-20th September) at Aston is compulsory?

I'm not from Aston, I'm from the University of Kent, but most universities are quite similar so I'm hoping I might be able to share some advice. I would definitely recommend you get in touch with @Astonuni to double check though.
Usually welcome week is full of many really fun events to introduce students to university life, get used to the university campus and ultimately make new friends! Because there are so many events they aren't usually compulsory and students can choose which events to attend.
What would be compulsory though, is if there were any introductory events for your course such as meeting your lecturers or fellow class mates. Welcome to the university in general and welcome to your course are very different.
