i'm really grateful for that too! its lucky that you wouldn't have to do it in the rain in your school. a while ago it was pouring with rain and we were watching a class of year 8/9s playing rugby when it was pouring - it looked horrible.

I remember one occasion on year 9 where we got stranded basically on the field opposite the school becos the teachers wouldn't let us walk back in a thunder storm. Very intelligently they made us stand under a tree and my friend got yelled at for walking into the rain because she knew its safer there than under a tree when there's lightning. Pe teachers can be annoying sometimes...

100% - although in my experience they've been annoying pretty much all the time ☹️
it's lucky that nothing happened to yg in that situation, it could've not turned out well.

Yeah, in the end I think it got to the end of the day and they couldnt make us stay on the field so we just ran for the school because if they hadn’t let us all our stuff would have been left in the changing rooms which wouldn’t have gone down well with our parents… we got so soaked though but it was kind of funny cos the teachers did too.
I agree generally PE teachers be very annoying but id feel bad making it a blanket statement as two of the teachers who support me very well (SENCo and joint head of sixth) are both PE teachers by trade and absolutely awesome 🙂
Thank you for all your help!!

at that point you all could've just ran for the school earlier instead of staying under that tree for so long 🙄
i'm glad you know some lovely PE teachers. i hope one day i also meet a PE teacher who isn't overall annoying, they've got to be out there somewhere!
although tbh now that i think about it i think i had quite a nice teacher in year 10, i've just completely forgotten his name

If wed have run to the school before the end of the school day wed have been in sooo much trouble as it would count as a group of year 9s bunking off as we weren’t on school site- also we wouldn’t have been able to get into the school as it would have been locked. So yeah we would have got equally as wet and also had iso probably. I still think the teacher was stupid to not just let us walk through the rain back to school half an hour earlier though- we could literally see the clouds coming closer not further away!

lowkey i forgot about this gyg 🤭
i'm absolutely terrified after seeing the ucat interim deciles (basc estimates of the real deciles which will come out in a few weeks) and i'm hoping and praying that my score will get me interviews in my chosen unis
i'm having a love-hate relationship with biology and chemistry rn. sometimes i love it so much and at other times it makes no sense and i feel like dropping out of sixth form.
i'm terrified for maths though, i was aiming for an A* in the real thing but now even an A is looking difficult
i'm also having imposter syndrome moments where i don't feel like i'm smart enough for uni. like i don't know if i'd be able to pass a regular uni course, let alone med.

Hey! You have great stats well done! Even I saw the interims and they were surprisingly high- but they have gone down to 2920 now. Also just curious- you mentioned you were a young carer- does this mean you are contextual? If so I saw you wanted to apply to imperial and I’m sure they would look at that aspect?

thank you so much! and yeah i'm super happy that i've ended up in the 9th decile 🙂
tbh i'm really confused with the whole contextual thing. i don't think i'm eligible for a contextual offer, but my schools has talked about my caring responsibilities in the reference and stuff so i'm hoping unis will flag it when they see that and lmk if i'm eligible for anything.
i'm not actually applying for imperial anymore because i don't think i'm suited to that sort of environment (high research focus + essentially oxbridge level + crazy competitiveness), but do you think i have any sort of advantage if i were to apply there? i would appeciate any advice on this because i'm basically clueless 😭

hi, i go by klafow on here - i picked the username when playing online games as a kid and i've sort of stuck with it ever since! i'm a year 13 applying for A100 medicine this year, and i thought i'd create this gyg to keep myself accountable and see how far i've come by the time results day comes around!
some more info about me:

a-levels biology, chemistry and maths (predicted A* A* A respectively)

ucat 2940 b2

i love reading, programming, chess and badminton (although i'm not very good at any of these!)

i try to balance school work alongside my responsibilities as a young carer, which can be difficult at time

i'm both really scared and excited for yr 13. i feel so nostalgic for all my years in secondary school when i remember all the good memories i've made, but at the same time i can't wait to see what the future holds.
if any aspiring med applicants are reading this, feel free to get in touch here or in my dms if you have any questions because i would be more than happy to help.
i guess it's time to get started

heyy dw ucat is genuinely such a difficult exam and i'm sure with more prep you'll be able to do better next year!

i started prep in feb/march, but i was basically just learning more about the exam and the different question types. i would recommend the medentry tutorials over medify for these because i found the medify ones rlly annoying but do whatever works for you! some of my friends were watching yt tutorials, you could try those asw

i would also occasionally try a few practice questions (mostly vr and sjt, although i really should've focused on every section equally) just to get a feel for the exam

then mocks came around and for like april may and june i wasn't doing anything except grinding/cramming for those

after mocks i started more serious ucat revision, by doing untimed practice questions in every section (although i was still doing way more vr and sjt than the other sections because i liked them more). in hindsight that was rlly dumb i should've done a bit of everything

i did my first mock in july, and in august i was doing like a mock a day, and at one point i was doing two mocks a day, and this was up until a day before the real thing. tbh i liked doing mocks more than practice qs so doing the mocks forced me to practice and gave me feedback. if you don't get burnt out i'd highly recommend a mock a day at some point in your prep but ofc not burning out is way more important

and yeah i think thats basc it

just remember that mock scores aren't everything
a lot of my friends got way higher on their mocks compared to the real thing
i got way lower lol
but don't focus on the scores, only on what you can improve for next time
i know its easier said than done, i was lowkey emotionally dependent on getting a good mock score and it resulted in me having mood swings whenever my score fluctuated, but in the end the only score that matters is the one you get on test day 🙂
good luck with everything!!

How long in a day would you revise for

4-5 hours during the holidays
2 hours for a mock, then like an hour to review the mock and then a bit of time for targeted question practice 🙂
