UCAT 5th decile can I apply to med school?

I got 2480 b3 in my ucat today I’m really upset, it’s a fifth decile score and wondering what my options are. I’m predicted A*AA and hoping to see if I could push that up. I’m also a contextual student for Exeter university as I’ve completed their scholars program and got an AAB offer but not sure if I can meet it with my very average score 😢 please someone help!!!

I am looking to see if I have any luck in applying to universities this year but am more than happy doing a gap year. My parents aren’t keen on letting me do that except from my dad but please can someone help me?

No harm in trying this year.
I know someone who was selected at Sunderland with a lesser score than yours.

What is you GCSE results like? Do score yourself at Aston to see if your GCSE + UCAT passes 31 (31 is for non contextual, so contextual likely to be lower). Assuming you score GCSE at full marks = 24, you get 30.5 together with your UCAT, there should be room. But I am only guessing your GCSE at this stage.

Sunderland would be a choice as their median was around 2540, so should have enough room to cover your UCAT score.

Ohhh ok

Although competitive, there are now healthcare degree apprenticeships being offered. You could always try this as you meet the grade requirements or email admissions

Hey, you can definitely apply to Exeter as you get a guaranteed interview as long as you’ve done the UCAT, regardless of your score I’m pretty sure. As an Exeter scholar, your UCAT is only considered post interview and so as long as your interview performance is good, you should be fine! I was an Exeter Scholar last year and got a guaranteed interview. You can check the contextual admissions section of the Exeter BMBS admissions policy document if you would like more info. Cheer up, there’s more than one aspect to the med application process❤️

May I also ask if you received an Exeter med school offer? I feel like it’s something that really relied on as a safe thing for me as it offers AAB for medicine

Hi dear, good luck for this year but if you didn’t get in to med school. Use a gap year. I know few people who did a gap year and was accepted in few universities. UCAT and interviews are important.

Hey, I got 2670 b1 in my UCAT and I did get an offer of AAC(changed to AAB for your year) for Exeter. I have no idea what score Exeter would need this year but having a guaranteed interview puts you in a great position, focus on interview technique a lot and just be yourself and I’m sure you’ll be fine

I didn’t know anyone else’s score sorry, but I would definitely give Exeter a try because of the guaranteed interview, it could be your safe option if you wanted it to be
