Forced to take a deferred entry. HELP!!!!

I was forced to either take a gap year or deferred entry because I wouldn't be classified as a home student as I haven't lived in the country for 3 years (missed it by 26 days). But this was made known to me 3 days ago. Since I am an early applicant I need to get my personal statement/ UCAS form to my college by the 13th of September next week. my choices are- Durham, Oxford, Kings, Exeter and Sheffield.
I contacted Durham and Oxford, they said I need to make a deferred entry. However, while reading through uni websites, I read that I need to include in my personal statement why am I taking a deferred year and what will I do in that year. Since this was not an initial choice, I don't know whether I need to write in personal statement about why am I taking a deferred year and since it happened so suddenly I don't have any plans for what to do. However, my teachers assured me they would include the reason in my reference.
SHOULD I STILL INCLUDE IT IN MY PERSONAL STATEMENT?? Or is it more of an extenuating circumstance and could be left for the reference or the extenuating circumstance form? Please let me know as I just have a week to submit my application to my college.

My friend who intended to take deferred entry did not write in his PS that he's doing so. Imperial contacted him afterwards to ask why and he provided a clear reason. I don't think you should change your PS last minute. Also, do you meet all the criteria of a home student? E.g. you also need to have settled status and your purpose of staying in the UK should not be primarily for education. If you do not meet all the criteria then you will not be classified as a home student.
What degree subjects are you applying for?
Most Unis have no problem with applicants applying for deferred entry, and dont expect elaborate explanations in your PS, so you may be overthinking all of this.

Hi, Thanks for your reply
did your friend not even include his plans for a deferred year in his personal statement? (sorry if I'm being annoying ☹️ )

Regarding the settled status thingie, My mother has a settled status under EU Settlement Scheme and I am a dependent on her, So according to the guidelines from UKCISA, I need to be in the country for 3 years before I start my course, which I will complete on 27th September 2025. The primary purpose of being in the UK being education.... I don't think so, because I basically came to live with my mother, who has been working in the UK for the past 5 years and this is kinda my home now because I live with my family. Being in full-time education, like year 11 which I was put in was compulsory yk?? Like if you're under 18 you have to be in education. so yeah, Even I was confused about that.
These were the guidelines I used-

Kings seem to be setting all sorts of daft extra hoops for applicants to deal with - yet another reason not to apply there frankly.

All you need to say in a very short statement at the end of your PS, is 'I am applying for deferred entry in order to qualify for Home fee status. During my gap year I will work in Tesco and then travel during the summer' or whatever. You dont need A Big Plan or to go into big detail.

Thankyou so much, that clears alot of things

Hi I really liked Kings too, the only thing I'm worried about is they didn't talk much about student societies and stuff outside academics, would you have any idea about that? thankyou
The student life is absolutely great!! If you're worried that everyone is too focused on "academics" and not socialising then that's wrong. People do study really really hard and there's a lot of friendly competition but there's definitely a good social life and something for everyone!
