I want to go uni this year but I’m not sure what course to do

I initially applied for pharmacy because I really enjoyed chemistry and have an offer from the university of Nottingham, however I don't think I would enjoy the job because it does require a lot of patient contact. I am quite an introverted person and it’s only now I’ve been properly thinking about what job I would like to do in the future and I no longer think I want to be a pharmacist. I’m thinking of applying to a course such as chemical engineering or mathematics or a combination of maths with something else through clearing as I do really enjoy maths and working in finance is something that interests me. However I’m also thinking that I do not have a lot of experience in this sector so I’m a bit worried of making the wrong decision or doing something I won’t enjoy. I’m just looking for any advice on this.

It's a bit late in the day to be applying to clearing. Have you had a look to see if any courses that interest you are still available? It would be best to take a gap year so that you can take your time to decide what to study and apply with five new choices by January 2025.

Still check what is available in clearance. Your bachelors degree does not actually matter in terms of what you study, especially for finance.

When applying to internships in second year and graduate programs in final year of university at any financial services firm, 90% of the time they will consider people with any degree as long as they are comfortable with numbers since they teach you from the beginning on the job anyway. Do not put so much pressure on yourself. Choose a university in which you think you will enjoy the environment and have a lovely experience because it is unique and goes by quickly. After that you may not get the opportunity to enjoy a campus again. Taking a gap year can be beneficial but do what is right for you.

Thanks for your help yes I think maybe taking a year to decide what it is I enjoy would be beneficial as I can apply for work experiences but I have seen some courses that do interest me that are still available but for finance do employers tend to see what university you go to rather than your course
