year 12 gyg journey! :)

hi everyone! i’m just starting year 12 and i’m studying history, religious studies, english language and french for my a levels.
I got 7 9s, 2 8s and 2 7s at GCSE (and all 9s in my chosen subjects for a level) but am definitely nervous about starting a new key stage, especially studying subjects like french which people have told me can be really tough at a level!
this is also my first time creating a gyg thread so any advice would be really appreciated  🤍
hopefully i’ll keep you posted on my a level journey as a humanities girlie (i couldn’t wait to drop maths and sciences after GCSEs haha!) and inspire other people to grow their grades!
thanks for reading and good luck with your studying! ☺️
Good luck in year 12!

Hey I take A-level French and like you got a 9 at GCSE (Congrats on your scores by the way) and honestly it's harder than GCSE but it's a lot more interesting you get to watch a film and read a book in French and the themes are all about French culture instead of talking about yourself all the time. So it's harder but it's so much more interesting that you actually want to do the work. Tbh you're obviously a hard worker bc of your GCSE grades so you should be fine if you keep that up into a level 🙂 if you have any specific questions about French I can do my best to help if that'd be useful

thanks for your advice! 🙂 (I was definitely nervous about the step up to a level because I found the listening/reading part of GCSE French relatively easy, but struggled a lot more with the speaking and writing, which I know are so much more important at A level!!) I'm so excited for the book and film part of the course though, they sound really fun and interesting

sorry I haven't really posted anything on here yet but I've been so stressed out with the deluge of a level work and new classes! I'll try and post something about starting year 12 this weekend (also hope everyone's had a good first week back )
