Do i need a level maths for bio at uni?

hi! so im starting y12 and ive picked bio chem and geography a level, im a high achiever and got all 8/9s in gcses and i am super set on doing biology at university. i want to go to a good university like Imperial or UCL or something, maybe even oxford (i doubt it tho) however everyone says to stand a chance i need a level maths, especially for what careers i could go into. i hated gcse maths and worked so hard on it and i cant stand the thought of a level maths, im competent enough at maths but i just hate it, can i go to a good uni without it??

No, you do not need maths A level to study biology at the universities you’ve mentioned and yes, your current subject choices are enough to meet most university entry requirements. Oxford, UCL, and Imperial all ask for biology and another science or mathematics subject, which chemistry falls under. Bear in mind that for most universities and courses, your GCSEs will be of little significance, so long as you meet the minimum requirements. If you don’t enjoy maths there is no point in studying it, as you are more likely to do better in a subject if you actually enjoy it.
I did those exact A levels. I also got into target medicine in UCL and KCL. Medicine is more likely to require maths than biology. So if I got into those programmes without maths a level, you’ll be fine doing biology at uni.
hey! i am currently doing the exact same a levels as you and i am applying for biology at oxford, imperial and ucl. my bio teacher says i defo dont need to do maths!! i did maths at AS and it was so tough for me so i dropped it to focus on my other 3. i'd say focus on getting as high a grade as u can in bio  that's what im gonna do too! good luck!!!

It really depends on the course you want to do for uni. If you’re thinking of medicine/dentistry/vet/stem (engineering etc.) all those good unis require chem and bio for med/dent/vet and for engineering I believe maths is important. For stuff like law I know Oxford has an admissions test and I think you can take anything and get into law but don’t trust me check on the websites and see what they say for entry requirements.
