Transferred from a programme to another BY SCHOOL😰

Hi I am an EECS student in QMUL and I received an email from my school regarding the progression to year 2 after resit exam:

Progression Outcome

Congratulations, you have met the requirements to proceed to the next developmental year of study.

However, due to the module results you have achieved to date it has been decided by your Subject Examination Board that you need to be transferred onto a different programme (for example moving from an MEng/MSci to an BEng/BSc, from a BEng to a BSc(Eng) or from a programme with a year in industry/overseas onto a programme that does not include time spent studying/working outside of Queen Mary University of London). For some Schools students may also be required to transfer from an accredited to an unaccredited programme. Your School has confirmed these details to the Student Records team and we will send confirmation of the programme amendment out to you shortly. If you have any queries regarding this transfer please contact your School.

Does anyone know what is going to be? Will I can secure my chance to progress to year 2 onto another programme or I need to study another programme from year 1 again?😭 As I am only 5 marks distance from the requirements for progressing to the accredited programme… . Also, the result stands that I am eligible to progress to year 2, I have already email to school about my willingness to continue to year 2, what should I do next? Why do this to me! 😭Anyone can give me some clue? Thanks 🙏🏻

Explain about 5 marks distance: Because my course can secure progression to year 2 of my degree in EECS when the failed module is higher than 30% and I got only 25% in my resit exam paper.

Hi, it sounds like you failed to meet the requirements to progress on your course and as the university has offered an alternative which you do meet the requirements for to progress. It is worth going through the undergraduate handbook /course regulations and ensuring university has applied the progression criteria correctly.

You have to now deal with the question.. are you happy to continue on the course which you have now been transferred onto? If not, you can inquire with university to are there any alternatives like resitting the year or progressing and accepting the academic consequences for what they are.

These are difficult situations. Ultimately, no one wants to fail the program they set out to complete however universities do have to follow the academic regulations as well, particularly for every course. They have probably offered you what they are able to do where you can still graduate with an honors degree, however you should check with the new course they are offering is in totality that there are no alternative opportunities for you.

I’d recommend organizing a meeting with either your tutor or the course director to go through the full circumstances and full range of opportunities. Best of luck.

I would like to carry on. It is not a matter about accreditation for me as I am sure that I won’t stay in UK for working after graduation. I have email them about my willingness to continue, just let see what they respond on this coming Tuesday as that day will be the official result day🙏🏻 I hope they will listen to my opinion as I am passionate on EEE.

The thing is generally opinion doesn’t mean too much, universities have to hold clear governance processes. As such the school will have a set of undergraduate regulations and the course will have clear requirements for progression.

You should spend time understanding these and how they impact your circumstances, this is what the university will follow.
