Do u have to go to the first freshers week induction week?

Only enrolment verification is starred as if it’s needed . I wasn’t prepared for a full week so id rather not go everyday . Leeds art uni

Probably not. That said if you are a young whipper snapper, why wouldn't you go to some of the events, meet some people and get into the vibe? If you are an old grumbly like me, then I fully understand why you wouldn't. I'm not going to any of the freshers events for my course.
Ngl I'm also starting at Leeds Art university for illustration but im not sure I wanna do freshers either, my boyfriend didn't go to his when he started uni and he was fine so I don't think we'll miss out on too much other than the hangovers😂

Hiya @vlvtlix & @MartynaS2005

Completely up to you how many events you go to - its not necessary to get on well at uni and there will be tons of opportunities throughout your course to make friends, so don't be concerned about that. However I would say that Freshers week is a good opportunity to get used to the vibe of university life before your course starts, find out about societies/groups, meet some people, explore the city and do some fun things before your course starts. Its also a chance to meet some of your lecturers and coursemates before everything kicks off, so I'd defo recommend going to at least some of it if you are able. But like I said its entirely your decision and you won't be at a disadvantage friend-wise if you only go to the compulsory parts.

Hope that helps, best of luck!

Hi

I would always say to attend induction week as you can meet new friends and understand what the requirements for the course are.

I think it is always good to attend as many things as you can as you never know what you might miss out on.

I hope this helps,

I mean I like being at home and not doing the travel for not necessary stuff so if I don’t have to would be nice

How do you know it isn't necessary. You never know, you might have fun and end up meeting some really interesting people. That, after all is what university is mostly about. Meeting different people with different ideas from different places and being put in the pot of ideas that goes on to think great things.

HI @vlvtlix ,

If only one event has been specified as necessary so you won't be required to go to all of the other events, however I would recommend trying to go to a couple of them. I found that I needed up meeting quite a few people who were on my course in some of the welcome week events which was nice as I knew them then before my course actually started and they ended up being some of my closest friends. Some other things might be good too if they are explaining more about your course and if you want some more information on certain things you might be able to get the information here. I also found it good as I found my way around some of the uni buildings! However, you will have loads of time to meet everyone if you can't make the events or decide you don't want to go so don't worry about this.

In terms of the freshers events in the evenings and nights out, I would also recommend trying to go to some of these too as they can be fun ways of meeting people. However, if this is not your thing don't worry as again, there will be so many ways of meeting people and making friends.

I hope this helps 🙂
