Friends in college

I started college on Thursday and Thursday was actually fine cause I talked to people but Friday went downhill I didn’t talk to many people we only talked cause they were in my class so during those 2 days I actually didn’t make any “friends” and I hate being lonely so I’m scared for tomorrow tbh it’s so hard making friends cause the timetables are different so even if I do kinda make a friend I don’t see them during my frees btw I started college completely on my own as I moved cities I really want to drop out

Hi there,

The first few days of a new college can be quite overwhelming, especially when you're figuring out friendships. It make take a bit of time to find your friends, but I found as everyone became more settled at college, it was easier to chat and start conversation.

It may be a little bit awkward when starting chats with people tomorrow, but try your best to keep making conversation and getting involved. Eventually, the conversation will start to feel more natural and you can see who you get on with the most.

Worrying about friendships and feeling lonely is probably much more common amongst the other students at your college, so try to remember that you're all in a similar position and you'll find your people soon. I would give your college a chance before you consider making any changes. Hopefully things will become easier as you get more comfortable with the space.

I hope tomorrow goes well for you. 🙂
