Supporting statement advice

Hi,

I'm in the process of applying for an administrative position at a school.

They're asking for a supporting statement and I'm not sure how best to go about it.

They list their eight main responsibilities of the position yet they note for me to put together a supporting statement based on the competencies. The latter are nine headings (titles such as problem solving, team work etc) with generic bullet points of what they expect.

Should I devise my statement on the responsibilities specifically or use the competencies to layout the statement, whilst mentioning the responsibilities in which ever heading is relevant?

Or just go with the responsibilities as that seems specific to the job and I can note my experience for each bullet point?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Generally all the evidence should be in your CV/application form, the covering letter is a persuasive summary. So focus on 3 sections - why you want to do this sort of work, why you'd like to work at this school, and then summarise the competencies - drawing attention to the points in the CV/form and adding anything that didn't fit in the CV/form or is a little more nebulous.

They're not asking for a CV - it's just filling in the usual details (work history, qualifications) and then it's a supporting statement.
