Medical science uclan

okay so i’m doing it with the intention of transferring on to medicine at the end of y1. I’ve been told that I still need to apply through UCAS for med and so I will obv apply for other courses as well so that I have a backup incase I can’t progress onto their MBBS so I can drop out, but i’ve been informed by one of their advisors that I don’t need to take the UCAT but another didn’t even know what the UCAT was? I’ve emailed the admissions team to be 100% sure before cancelling it. Has anybody done this transfer scheme? Did you have to take the UCAT?

Hi, I’m currently studying medical science at UCLAN. The transfer scheme only applies in the foundation year which is when u apply for MBBS and such, u don’t have to do the UCAT, it is very competitive and places to MBBS specifically vary each year. The main thing is u need to get the 70% over all and 65% min in the biological and chemical systems and also make sure ur personal statement is really good, u can use ur previous ones but it’s advised to change a few things so it’s not exactly the same . Hope that helps.

Yeh. I know a bunch of people in my year were able to get the interview. Getting an interview is mainly based on getting 65% in the bio chem systems module, and I know some people who are ACC gonna be stating medicine this year coz they were successful in the interview. It is honestly a really good option but u have to know that it is difficult and a lot of hard work .
