Hi there,

Congratulations and welcome to the University of Chester!

There are so many ways to make friends at university. When you arrive, you can get to know others in your accommodation, talk to people on your course, or join a club. There are also so many events going on during Welcome Week, and I have linked the Students' Union webpage here for you to browse.

I'd definitely recommend going to the Welcome and Sports and Societies Fairs. They are great places to learn more about what is available for you here, as well as a great place to meet new people. In addition to this, it is always a great idea to try to make friends with others on your course. You can create a study group or invite them out to coffee - you just have to ask! Joining a sport or society, volunteering, or finding part-time work are also great ways to get to know others.

You can also keep an eye out for group chats for your course/for international students. Be wary, as some of these can be fake, but they are also a good way to get to know others before you arrive.

I hope this helps, and best of luck!
