GCSE remark

I have always been a grade 9 at English lit. I have dropped to an 8 however in my GCSEs somehow even though I don’t believe the essays I wrote were any different this time around. I am 3 marks into the boundary and 13 marks off the next. Would it be worth still getting a remark? The board is aqa.
Thanks in advance
My daughter got her AQA English literature paper 1 reviewed and it went up 17 marks. Marking has been appalling this year. Go for it.

Since you didn't request your marked papers back to look at, all you can do is take a gamble. Does a higher grade matter? Can you afford to lose the fee if the grade doesn't change? Do you feel lucky? Based on previous years data you would have a chance of the grade improving and very little chance of dropping to a 7.

Thanks so much that’s really helpful!

Thanks that’s very helpful advice. I would probably be ok with losing the money but it’s clearly not ideal! However I really would like my grade to go up so maybe like you say it’s worth it and taking the chance! What do you think the chance the grade would go down honestly?

I think I misread your original explanation of your current marks. If you are only 3 marks above the 7 boundary and 13 marks away from the 9 then a review isn't very likely to be successful (not impossible but not very likely) and there is a small risk it could drop (again not very likely). Personally I would not take the risk of the wasted money or a drop in grade unless I had got my papers back and a teacher who was experienced in exam grading agreed there was a mistake, An 8 is an excellent grade.

Ah ok thanks so much. I do have my scripts back and my teachers have seen them but weren’t very helpful. The main issue I believe that would have caused a drop in mark is that the pieces of paper I wrote my essay on were all out of order in paper 1 the way the examiner would have read it is that they first saw the second half of my ACC essay then the whole of my Romeo and Juliet one and then the start of my ACC one!…
And honestly I don’t believe they would have bothered to have worked out that it was out of order and kept on scrolling up and down!!!
That would probably be my main reason to go in for a remark!

Couldn't agree more. Forty pounds for a remark and I probably think it's just a money making scheme.
