Is it weird to go to freshers week events as a 23 year old?

So I'm going into third year and I'm a 23 year old guy. For reasons I've done nothing in my first two years but work, no socities, no friends, and no freshers week.

I want to have the classic uni experience. Meeting people, drinking, etc.

I want to know if its going to be weird for me to go to freshers week. I'm several years older than probably everyone else there. I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable or ruin anyone's fun.

I’m 21 and just started uni due to changing courses and gap years. I’ve been to some freshers stuff for uni, honestly no one will judge you. I’ve had a couple of 18 year olds jokingly say “born in 2003 ur soooo old” but they don’t really care. So go for it, it’s worse to regret not doing something than regretting something you’ve done! Have fun

But it feels different. Your going into first year, but I'm third year.

Ehh I get what you mean. But you’re overthinking it- maybe just don’t tell ppl what year ur in if u want to blend in. I know loads of second years that go to freshers events for the first week and ones that go clubbing regularly. I’ll admit I don’t see many 3rd years but thats only bc it’s the last year of their degree and they need to focus more/ they have gotten bored of clubbing.

Hi

Don't worry about it!

At University there are people of all different ages so you won't be the only older person there. As well, some people will also like this as you have been at the university longer and therefore you will be able to help the new students around campus as well as joining in with societies and clubs.

I hope this helps,

Hi there,

It is not weird at all!

Most people I know will attend Welcome Week events, no matter what stage of their university journey or age. It is not often you'll get asked how old you are, and if you do, most people won't be bothered. I knew a few people who started university at 21+, so there are likely others in the same position as you. You should make the most out of what your university has to offer, and enjoy it!

Best of luck,
