Laptop suggestions for daughter starting chemical engineering degree Leeds Uni

Good evening, my daughter is due to start at Leeds University at the end of September on a Chemical degree and I was wondering what type of laptop she would need? She also wants to use it as a TV - Netflix etc any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks John - supportive dad
Honestly just whatever fits her personal needs. Academically all her personal computer needs to do is word process and access the internet. Any specialist software will be available on uni PC clusters and students will normally do such work on those. I'd suggest a windows PC rather than a mac because for the same power a windows PC is cheaper. Macs use basically the same components and have the same performance but cost more due to being an apple product.

Don't need anything really high end to just do word processing, internet browsing, and netflix. She might prefer a larger screen perhaps for netflix purposes but could also just get a separate monitor to plug in for that. Just get any standard laptop really, would aim for 8 GB RAM and either a 1 TB HDD or a 256 GB+ SSD with an external HDD for extra storage. If she doesn't play computer games she won't need any fancy graphics cards or anything.
