How to revise

I’ve just started year 13 and I don’t know how to revise and I’m worrying because I want to get at least ABB. I do Geography, Environmental Science and Spanish A-Levels for reference. Can someone help me please?!? 🙏
Sorry you've not had any responses about this. :frown: Are you sure you've posted in the right place? Here's a link to our subject forum which should help get you more responses if you post there.

Hi! I sat my a-levels this year so have just finished year 13 studying geography, history and English. For most subjects, the key to getting good grades is to practice questions and essays so that you get used to the format of exam questions and applying your knowledge to them. For essay questions, getting your teacher to give you feedback can be super helpful, so make use of this if your teachers are willing. Did you make any revision resources during year 12 e.g. flashcards, mindmaps or anything that you can use to revise? To revise for geography, I mainly used flashcards and practice questions - flashcards are a great way to revise as they encourage active recall, which is especially good in a content-heavy subject such as geography. Hope this helps and please ask if you have any other questions!!

Hi @Thetictac,

I can't speak for Environmental Science as I am not too knowledgable on it. But as for Geography, I highly recommend that you summarise and memorise your case studies. For every topic in geography you would have relevant case studies to help support your answers. Try to make condensed and detailed notes of case studies that cover key relevant facts- you should try refer to the mark scheme on past papers to get an idea of what "facts" they expect in your answers. Geography is a memory-based subject and requires lots of memorisation, flashcards are a great revision technique for this!

Spanish is a practical subject which requires you to actively practice and apply into daily life to improve- my tips for Spanish are:

Active listening to become more familiar with gaining an understanding of spoken Spanish

Reading Spanish texts to help to improve comprehension and build vocabulary

Practicing Spanish through conversations with native speakers or apps like Duolingo

You can read up more on revision techniques here, (that could be useful for Environmental Science): https://bit.ly/4coFOBp

Hope this helps,

Hey I’m in year 12 and I’m doing 2 of the same subjects as you, english lit and geography.
I’m confused on how to revise for geography. I know I need to make flashcards by using the spec but it’s really difficult when the spec points are so broad yet so vague and i don’t really understand what they’re expecting us to know. How did you make your flashcards? Do you have any advice or tips on how to revise for geography?
