is sociology or psychology easier?

which one is more essay based? and better for law??
Both are good for law, choosing whichever you prefer is probably the best thing you can do 🙂 if you’re unsure then look through the specs and watch some videos on YouTube from previous students to get their perspectives
As for which is more essay based, look at some past papers for the exam boards you’d be doing and judge it from that

Eeep! you've started a debate here!

They are both quite essay based.

I did a degree in Sociology and an MSc in Psychology, and I can tell you that Psychology takes itself a lot more seriously and in many ways covers the realms of science a lot more with neuropsychology (the brain). I didn't get into Psychology when I was younger, I didn't like the idea of doing experiments on people it felt a bit controlling, especially stuff like Zimbardo. Sociology can get a bit out there and needs you to think outside the box when you get to a higher level. If you can leave a lesson on George Herbert Mead without a headache you deserve a good degree. When you start it you learn lenses to look at the world through such as feminism, marxism, and functionalism and that radically changed my life.

Either would be good really

I think it really depends on your strengths. Both are essay heavy but Psychology includes more scientific and statistical analysis than socio.

Socio is more focused on society and social behaviours. It can be relevant to Law I guess if you want to have a more human understanding of family law, criminal justice and public poilicy.

Psych is more about the individual mental health. I guess you could use it to understand human behaviours behind criminal law but I feel it's quite remote. I think socio is more directly linked to Law because you can understand social structures that can be relevant in legal studies.

I feel like spicy has more reports based on experiments and statistics while socio is more theortical and essay heavy.

I'd say you should pick the subejct where you have the higher interest and the highest chances to get good grades. If I were you, I'd make a draft essay for psych and socio on Tilf and see which essay got the best grades and how hard it would be to get a higher grade. So you see right away if you're already better at one subject than the other.
