My YR12 GYG 💮🔖

🔖Subjects I’m doing:
💮Biology OCR
💮Chemistry OCR
💮Maths Edexcel

Im getting back on here to serve as motivation for the upcoming year. I want to get the highest grades possible for the Yr12 end of year assessments and I know I am capable of doing so if I just lock in.
I have plenty of time (famous last words) to prepare for these tests so I’ll be updating this blog every single day to update w my progress.

I also want to use this blog to reach out to my other bio, chem and maths comrades. I know hardly anyone in my school who is doing the same so I hope I can find like minded people here so we can motivate one another!

I’m setting my goal for at least 40 minutes a day- Yr13s call me out if this is too little because I have no clue how to space out my studying periods across the year.

Finally, year 13s and others who have just done their A levels, help a girl out and give me some tips so I can succeed 🫶🏽🙏🏽
Hello fellow year 12! I have also just started Maths and Biology 🙂

Update:

I did 1hr 30 mins of revision today which included enduring chemistry homework. On top of that, I had double chemistry today and I didn’t understand a word of what my teacher was yapping so I put it upon myself to teach myself the topic before I go back. Overall, I’m still a bit iffy on some aspects of the subject but I understand it a lot more now!
See you tomorrow! 🫶🏽

yeaa i can get that 😭 gcse chem was still confusing for me nothings really changed :'')
Yr 13 here. 40 mins a day should be fine for now, don't rush head on into revision with like 3 hours daily as some people do. A little every day over time makes a lot! For bio and chem I'd say if you're a note taking person make notes as you go (then when you get tests etc your resources are there and you can easily spend time on active recall + practice). Quizlet can be useful too like for definitions and things. Maths just practice loads, once you finish a topic in school go on PMT and try at least 10 questions of it and if you get them all right you're pretty solid for now (clearly revise mroe when coming up to tests or exams). Start slow and work yourself up

Update 2:
Felt very little motivation so only did 20 mins 😭. Tomorrow I will pick myself back up though. I did plenty of work in my frees though so hopefully that makes up for it 🙏🏽

It sounds like you’re doing an amazing job 🙂 dont push yourself to do so much at the moment, as long as you’re kind on top of everything you need to be doing then give yourself a bit of understanding- its the first few weeks, you need to find your feet and settle into a routine. Don’t burn yourself out by trying to do too much!

I'm sorry I don't do OCR, I do WJEC. Nevertheless I'd say PMT is sooo useful for notes and practice questions and on YouTube Freesciencelessons
