I read online that St. John's College, Oxford serves large portions for everyone at lunch and dinner. 😧

It does depend. They can be quite variable.

For a student at St John’s, a three-course formal dinner cost £4.91 last year (I haven’t yet checked to see if that has changed) and they could invite up to 5 guests (whose meals each cost £7.07).

For how much we pay, I personally think the food is served in a sensible quantity and is of a (usually) excellent quality.

I wonder how many Muslim students at St. John's? 😧 Because they also serve Halal meat for all their chicken, beef and lamb?!

I know of a few, but most students there that I know aren’t muslim or even (openly) religious.

Whether the food is kosher/halal or not doesn’t really tend to bother anyone as far as I am aware. When booking a meal, you are given the means to specify any dietary preferences/requirements and so anyone booking a meal can always ask for halal/kosher food if they aren’t already aware of the arrangements in place.

Thanks! Do you have a link? I’d be interested to see more. As an ex-Hilda’s student I would say placement on this list does not equal financial support…

Ah perfect, thanks. Yes - or not just hardship grants but travel, book, JCR funds etc.

Wow...I will apply...just over £1,200 in one year from St. John's College, Oxford?! They have so much money?! 🙂 lol
The students we met at the open day at St John's did say that they did throw money at them for things like books and lab coats for starters.
