Is it possible to self teach an Advanced Higher.

Ok, I have a debatible question, for everyone. So basically I want to do advanced higher spanish, which I did pick. However, I also wanted to do higher german as that’s something I really miss. Saldy tho I have been told that I would have to drop one of them since they are both at the same time. I am doing consortium for German and I was doing Advanced higher spanish from June to September. However I would still like to do Spanish as thats the language I know the best out of the ones I have been learning and also even went to Spain last summer to improve my spanish. I also got an A band 2 for my exam for it too. I was thinking if duruing my free periods that most people get in 6th year, that I can self teach my self Advanced higher spanish? I think aslong as I am doing grammer, a study guide book, also even someone that has done Advanced higher spanish to even do some lessons with me to help me out. My school said that was impossible for someone to do so and they claim they have never had someone do so too before. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice?

Hii, i'm in a similiar situation. I'm teaching myself advanced higher maths and it's not too bad. You have to have a lot of dedication and commitment, along with the resources and organisational skills to teach yourself but as long as you enjoy the subject its not awful. You have to study pretty consistently though otherwise it all adds up into a pile which is not great. You've got all the rescources and a bit of help so i would say give it a go, if not you could always drop it.

Thanks alot I appreciate that, so did your school not warm you at all? My school just said that its never happened before in my school atleast soemone doing an advanced higher without a teacher. They also said that back then maybe 20-30 years ago they said that you had to go to class 4/6 class per week to even be allowed to do it. So ye i would say I am very passionate about it and really want to prove my spot lol. So howcome you arent able to do maths without a teacher? Were your school ok with you doing it self taught?

I'm doing advanced chemistry and biology as well, and stupidly they're is only one class running for Adv maths and chemistry and they're running at the same time. I wanted to do Maths but needed chemistry so i just took chemistry and gaslighted my teachers into thinking i can get an A in adv maths. Some people have self taught before in our school however they did have zoom classes and help from teachers. You should definitely try and get a teacher on your side and do it because its 100% achievable.
