Transposing square roots help

What is the math law for the following scenario? I'd like to know how the power becomes 0.5 in the below transposition?

√MLT^(-2)/ML = (MLT^(-2)/ML)^0.5

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

√x = x^(0.5) is the basic "law" that you're missing - to convince yourself of this, note that (x^0.5) X (x^0.5) = x^(0.5 + 0.5) = x^1 = x, which shows that x^0.5 is an alternative notation for the square root of x.

Similarly, raising a number to the power 1/n is the same as taking the nth root of the number.

(I'm assuming that your square root symbol covers the entire expression on the left hand side of your original equation)

The mathematical law you're referring to is the property of exponents, specifically the rule for raising a power to a power. It's often referred to as:
(a^b)^c = a^(bc)

You have:
(MLT^(-2)/ML)^0.5

To simplify this expression, you can apply the rule above.
