the advanced higher english course specification mentions that if someone wants to study a singular text in their dissertation it has to be ‘substantial’.

Generally they’re looking for classics, just coz they’ve got lots in them and they have people critiquing the work as well. I’m doing Jekyll and Hyde with Dorian Gray this year but i think you can also do modern classics like Ishiguro
