Double or triple science?

I am currently at the start of year 10 right now and I am doing triple science but I recently found out that we are only doing 2 to 3 extra topics from double science, therefore, I feel like triple science doesn't help me with my future (I want to do medicine) and triple award students have to do six papers for their GCSE's while double awards science students only need to do 3 papers, and I can always take triple science in A-level even is I take double science in O-level as long as I get A/A*, do universities usually care whether students take double award or triple award in O-level if you are going for a medical course? So I am confused about whether to drop triple science and lighten my unnecessary workload or keep doing triple and power through the next 2 years (i have a week to decide)
I dont know if its the same for you but I have friends who did GCSE double science and starting science a levels is harder because you ideally need to catch up all the triple content over the summer or learn it alongside the a level content. Therefore if you’re planning to go into med and will be taking science subjects at a level I would advise you to take triple science

Thank you for the advice! I spoke to my teacher today and realised that i have to get a 8-9 if i take double science and want to take science for A-level, while triple science students only need a 6 or a 7 to get into A-level science. I am still thinking but i think that i will stick to triple,if you have anymore adive pls let me know.

Id definitely say triple then, you can always drop to combined if you need to if you’re struggling but its harder to go from combined onto triple cos you’d have to catch up. Best of luck for the future and id be happy to suggest some science resources in used at gcse if that’d be helpful in the future 🙂

It truly doesn't matter, all that matters is you get at least a 6 to do your A levels. If you're not too confident in sciences, I did trilogy/combined science (it landed me a 7-7 meaning I was able to do Bio & Chem A level), but, if you're very confident that you'll be able to achieve a high enough grade in all 3 (Since to pursue medicine you'll probably have to do all 3 sciences + math - depending on which route you go) go for separate science/triple.

hi, i'd definitely say that you are more likely to do better in a level in terms of understanding if you do triple as it gives you better foundations for the a level course. if you do combined, you would have to put more work in over the summer to try and be at the same level as those who did triple. you will still have to learn the content regardless if you want to do a level sciences, so you may as well do triple. and plus, since medicine usually need an A in a level science then it may be a good idea!
