University and t-level

I’m asking for some help. Basically I chose to go into college to do a level 3 foundation diploma in health and social but I have since found out the universities prefer 3 a-levels now I’m a bit worried I won’t get into universities because I went to college instead. Any help would be appreciated thank you!!

You will need to look at what the equivalent grade is that you could come out with at the end of your college course to ensure it meets standard entry requirements for university.
Different universities will display their entry requirements differently. For example, for health courses at CCCU, we provide entry requirements in formats for different qualifications applicants are taking, as well as in the form of UCAS tariff points (which all qualifications can be converted to using the UCAS tariff calculator).

We work closely with college students who are studying a BTEC/T-Level in Health and Social Care and looking to progress onto university after college, as if they finish their BTEC with grades Distinction, Merit, Merit, this is equivalent to BBC at A-Level 🙂
We also work closely with mature students at college studying Access to Higher Education/Access to Nursing courses, which are a one year course that, if the grades are obtained, get you into university too.

A Foundation Diploma is equivalent to 1.5 A level. However it is normally Year 1 of a 2 year course. Therefore if you pass the first year you will automatically be enrolled for the second year (Extended Diploma) which is equivalent to 3 full A levels. https://qualifications.pearson.com/content/dam/pdf/BTEC-Nationals/Health-and-Social-Care/2016/specification-and-sample-assessments/9781446938010-btec-nat-fdip-hsc-ag-spec-iss3c.pdf

Hi there,

I think it would be best to contact the universities themselves and explain which qualifications you have/currently studying, and which course you are interested in. The Admissions teams at university are very knowledgeable and can help in any way they can. For instance, on the course webpage for Health, Wellbeing and Community, we state other equivalent qualifications may be accepted for entry to this course’ 😊

Please do contact our Admissions department to talk about applying to us and your entry requirements:

Good luck!

Best wishes,
