Which unis for physics with AAB predicted?

Hey, I am a student that does Physics, Economics and Maths with predicted AAB with a B in math aswell as a HSK level 3 in mandarin and I'm doing an EPQ. I was just wondering as someone who wants to study physics at university which ones would be good choices, the dream is to go to Edinburgh but I think they want ABB with a A in maths and I heard there acceptance rate is fairly low, is it still worth applying and what other universities should I look at?
Thanks!

Hi there!

AAB is a fantastic set of predicted grades and you've obviously worked very hard for them, so give yourself a good bit of credit!

I would advise to try your very best to improve your maths to an A grade and see then if your teachers would be willing to put up your predicted grade to an A. I would say 100% apply for Edinburgh if this is your dream uni, especially if the grades are so close to your predicted.

I would advise generally, not to apply for all unis with grades above your predicted grades. Perhaps choose 1-2 ambitious choices like Edinburgh, 1-2 with entry requirements around the same level as your predicted grades and perhaps one uni as a back up with entry requirements a little lower than your predicted grades.

Its difficult to advise you on which unis you should look into because physics courses vary a lot from uni to uni and so the best unis for you would be the ones offering courses with modules which capture your inspiration, interest, you think you would enjoy and could lead you down any careers you might want to go into in the future. Course content is probably the number one factor to consider when choosing your uni. Its also about considering where you might want to live, so if being in Scotland is important to you then perhaps look into other Scottish or Northern unis.

I really hope that helps - best of luck!

Hi thanks for your advice, I will definitely start looking into the modules at the universities as I am very passionate about particle and quantum physics. Thank you for your help.
