MA Creative Writing Online Mature Student

👋 Hello
I have applied to complete an MA in Creative Writing at Teeside University and am now nail-biting with concern because it will mean a great deal for me to get a place. But the highest of many qualifications is an HND in Counselling. However being an avid writer, one of my communication outlets being on the autistic spectrum, I have already written and professionally published 4 books with 5/6 more underway, turning a publishing hobby into a business and hopefully social/community enterprise. So I've put together a portfolio for the course leader. Being impatient and nervous, I've contacted the university a few times - the MA starts on Monday! Still no word.
Has anyone been offered a place in a similar situation as myself? Am I being unrealistic to think I can work at MA level? TIA

Hello,
I've replied to the message that you sent me on my post that I made two years ago but just wanted to write some words of reassurance here as I feel that we are both in a similar position/circumstances.

I was offered a place on the MA in Creative Writing at Teesside University last year and started the course in September 2023. I'm studying part time so I am currently halfway through the course. Like yourself I am also on the autistic spectrum, and writing is a communication outlet. I do hold a full bachelor's degree but it is not in a field related to creative writing.

I don't think you are being unrealistic in pursuing an MA in creative writing as you have already got experience of writing and having four professionally published books is amazing!

Good luck!!!

Claire
