Should everyone try to apply to Oxbridge?

I want to apply for economics courses at Cambridge, Imperial, Warwick, LSE, and Edinburgh, where I need the TMUA for most of my applications. However, as I haven't yet studied for the test to take in October, I am considering only doing it in January, which means I would not be able to apply for Cambridge. Do you think that is not the right choice? I mean, if I would mess it up, the chance of getting into another university also becomes practically zero. What would you do? One month is not much preparation time, don't you think?
Do you like the Cambridge course or are you only applying because it's Cambridge?
The answer to the title of this thread, "should everyone apply to oxbridge" is 100% no.
Well, I surely do not like it any better than an Econ course from another university, so it's probably just the name.

Yes you can apply to Cambridge. Apply there in October and add your other choices later, but before the January deadline for equal consideration.

Oh I see, but is it also possible to do the TMUA a second time?

That’s not possible. Your UCAS form is submitted to all 5 of your choices when you press submit. So when it’s sent to Cambridge, it’s sent to all other universities you applied to as well.

yes you can do this actually. Can't sit the test a second time though is the issue for OP.
For those considering Leicester:

Please calculate your score https://le.ac.uk/-/media/uol/docs/academic-departments/medicine/study-regulations/2025-scoring-of-application-a100-final.pdf

If your UCAT is lower than expected but you have excellent GCSE results, eg if you are able to score 32 full marks. The lowest UCAT score still worth applying to Leicester is 2350 (which gives you 23.5), total 55.5.

Do work out your scores and note that Leicester mentioned that they have till 1st Oct to amend their scores requirement.

Plus, they will score predicted grades AAB, section 2.2.

These info are are in the link above.

Wrong - you can just name one and add other choices later.

It’s generally a good idea to fact-check your information before you give incorrect advice. As others have said, it’s completely possible to do this. You can submit your application to Cambridge, then go back and add more choices later.
