Is there any benefit of 4 a-levels?

I want to go to a top uni for engineering: I’m taking maths, further maths, physics and business as a 4th. I thought it would be good to take 4 because I flopped one of the main 3 I got a back up which I’m more confident in. Are there any benefits as I heard they have lower grade requirements for some?
4 a levels with fm is the most common way i think to do 4
The benefit of being able to flop one is true, some people find fm too hard and they drop it after a few weeks or after year 12 so doing another 3 is smart if that might be the case
I haven’t heard about lower grade requirements, i know that if you’re doing 4 some unis like Cambridge will get you 4 grades you have to get to achieve your firm offer.

Hi @JibberJam,

During A-Levels, I had a lot of my peers start with four A-Levels (Further maths being the fourth), but ended up dropping the fourth subject either near the start, in the middle or after AS Level. I'm sure you've heard by many others that juggling four A-Levels can get extremely overwhelming and time consuming, furthermore, most universities don't really regard the fourth subject and primarily care about your main three subjects.

Although there may be benefits to obtaining four subjects, it's more important that you secure the best grades in three subjects than scoring alright in four. Ultimately, it's your choice to make- have you considered discussing this with any school counsellors or guardians to get a second opinion? At the end of the day, you can just take four subjects and drop one after AS if you think it's too overwhelming.

Hope this helps,
Danish
