Should i get a 2nd dog?

I currently have my Leo, boy cocker spaniel who is turning 2 years old. He is lovely, well trained caring and gentle.

My mum was going to get this girl puppy who is a mix between a cockerpoo and a German shepard. My mums now not able to take this puppy in and the owners are asking if i would want to. I'm a massive dog lover and always said I'd get a 2nd dog so Leo could have company. I wasnr planning at this current time but I also never planned to get Leo when I did and it wad the best thing and the best time. I work from home so they wouldn't be alone often at all.

Leo is neutered and is super friendly with any dogs he comes across. I am very much his person though but I think as long as I still give him 1 on 1 time with me he would love having the company.

Do you think the puppy would be a good fit for leo based of his breeds? How is the best way to go about bringing another dog home to your current dog?

maybe trying meeting the two dogs a few times. first at neutral ground like a park or something and then at your house. see how they get along.
Try it for days or weeks and if the two dogs get along with each other in this tinespan, I see no reasons to house the puppy.

Have the dogs do a meet and greet first at a park or something, and if they like each other, bring them to where you live. If the new dog likes the place after a week or so, then it'll work out and you can get a 2nd dog!

owning one dog is nothing like owning two dogs, the first thing you need to take into account is the size they're gonna be, how much food you need to spend money on, stuff like that. I agree with the comments, go and see if they're compatible or not

oh my god don't do it. you have no idea what german shepherds (even mixes) are capable of. mine ruined our house when he was a puppy. literally, the whole thing. you need to know that they also need at least 2 - 3 hours of active exercise a day, they're nothing like cocker spaniels
