I applied for a computer science masters course and had experienced various miscommunications in regards to the application process on the uni’s side – back in June I was asked to send examples of programming modules I had studied, so I sent the detailed module specifications for all the examples that were asked of me, about 5 documents in total and my modules were pretty self- explanatory, in regards to the content that they encompassed (artificial intelligence, software design and development etc).
A few days later I got an unexpected response – they told me I didn’t have ‘enough’ programming experience from my Computer Science degree??? I wrote back and told them that I had studied 17 modules in total and that the ones I sent were a small segment of the total. They didn’t bother to respond back.
Now I’ve gotten an offer from a different uni but the course is more expensive and the commuting is going to cost me at least £30 a day and 4 hours there and back – it’s a messy journey too with having to mix and match bus, coach and train. If I had gone to my original choice the costs and travel time would have been split by a quarter.
I really want to do my masters I got a first class with honours on my undergraduate degree and I feel like I’ve been treated so unfairly – a part of me wants to tell all this to the head of faculty and see if anything can be done – what should I do?
