How to be more productive at University...

Hi

I thought as we approached the start of the Uni year, I thought it might be good to share a few productivity tips...

University life is not just about studying, but also socialising and working alongside your degree.
Think about your most productive time of day.
Create a study schedule and plan for the week ahead.
Create a space that works for you
Review it!

What productivity tips are you going to use this year - drop them below.

I hope this helps,

Matt

Hi there!
Love these tips, and thought I'd add a few of my own to the thread. It can be difficult to maintain the balance at uni, especially as there's always so much going on, but these are a few things that have helped me throughout my degree so far:

1) Time blocking for scheduling. I find this easier than planning based on task, and it helps me to visualise how I'm going to be spending my time more easily. There are loads of YouTube videos on how to use time blocking, I like to give each module a colour and map out my day that way, with another colour for free time! But some people prefer to do it mentally, whatever works for you!

2) Make time for something you enjoy each day. Whether it's time out with friends, or just watching a show at home, you can be flexible based on how much time you have, but this gives you something to look forward to each day, and really helps maintain the balance with work!

3) Keep a note of key dates! Having deadlines/ exam dates all in one place is really helpful for keeping on top of your workload, and planning your time!

Hope these tips are helpful!

Hi there,

I totally agree with all of these!!

I also totally depend on my google calendar. At uni, it's up to you to provide structure so time blocking (as suggested) and making note of meetings, seminars and lectures etc. are helpful for staying on track and ensuring that you're well prepared and on time throughout your day.

Secondly, plan your day the night before. This includes meal prepping as much as you can and planning out your work locations (so that you don't spend ages each morning choosing what library to go to!). I can't emphasise enough how helpful these tips are!

All the best,
