Hiiii about to go to uni in a week~
Im going for more of a handbag thing, but I feel like if you are going for one it’s a good idea to get one that can be cross bodied as when you stuff it with your things it’ll make your arm uncomfortable after long time periods (resize strap is good too)

My friend is going to a leather handbag, I’m going for a Levi’s bag thing (denim coloured, fits my devices and other stuff). I went out today and saw many backpacks and other types of bags, mostly in neutral colours, many blacks and whites (white can get dirty though so it’s something to consider)

Depending on your course you’ll maybe need differently. My course doesn’t require too many extra materials and I’m also living at home (but still have a lot of walking), you might be different and if you have a lot of things you need i recommend backpack, but either way as long as your materials can be transported easier than in your hands then it’s a win in my book

I might end up regretting my choice of not getting a backpack but I’ll see haha

Hi!

Honestly everyone has everything and anything. People bring backpacks, tote bags, handbags. As long as it fits everything you need and if comfy that's all that matters really!

My must haves in a backpack/handbag ect. is space for a laptop, charger, paper, pens, snacks and a drink! I also recommend having something that has a little sectioning (even if it's just a divider in the middle) so you can grab things easily but that's personal preference. Also having something that will survive some rain is needed - you do not want weeks of notes being destroyed by some rouge rain. 🙂

I hope this helps!

Hey!

I went through using a couple of bags whilst I was at uni, both backpack and a shoulder bag and swapped between the both. If I'm honest, backpacks are more practical as they tend to have more dividers/pockets inside. But, there is absolutely no shame in using one. I think a lot of people opt for them as university is not the same as school in terms of what is fashionable etc.

Hope this helps!

Hey there!

I would 100% recommend a backpack, especially if you're a student on a course that has a lot of textbook reading, lab-work, or just any course where you will be carrying quite a bit. Most people at university use a backpack in my experience, and there's never any sort of shame or embarrassment about having one, especially since it's the norm. If you get a good quality backpack, it will be able to last the entire 3/4 years, but this also goes for any bag that you use. As I said, I mainly suggest backpacks because they can carry more and don't hurt my shoulders, but if you are fine with carrying handbags or totes etc. you should go with whatever makes you more comfortable and happy.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Dinaa76,

Personally, I love using a backpack for uni! Most people I know use backpacks due to the ease of carrying them. You have your hands free and if you get the right backpack they are very spacious. My only recommendation for a backpack is one that includes a slot for your laptop.

Honestly just choose whatever bag is more suitable for you, but make sure it has enough space. Personally I always make space for my laptop, water bottle, note pad, pens and a snack! 😊

I hope this helped, please feel free to ask me any questions

I personally have backpacks, tote bags, handbags like Hermes Constance . Each one is chosen with great care to match different occasions and outfits. I believe the right bag can elevate any look and add a touch of elegance.

Hey dinaa,

Honestly, a good backpack is super practical for uni. I used one throughout my first year and never felt embarrassed—it was great for carrying a laptop, books, and even gym stuff. Plus, with the variety of stylish backpacks out there, you can find one that suits your vibe. That said, if you’re leaning towards a handbag, there are some that work well for uni too, as long as it’s comfy to carry around all day. It’s all about what makes you feel confident and works for your needs! 😊

Hi!
It totally depends on your style, I used a handbag first year, backpack second year, and a tote bag now! As long as it fits your essentials (e.g. laptop or note pad, water bottle etc) you will find that people use a wide range of bags for uni.

Hope this helps! Faye 🙂
