Hello!
Yesterday, I'll admit I just needed a chill day to just do nothing 💀 so after-school I was just watching Ted-talks and Stephanie soo.
I felt that it helped with managing today because I was able to get both maths homework sheets done, catch up with the Integration Chapters🥳 and do the CS homework my teacher decided not to tell us about till that lesson 🤦*♀️. Still got a lot of maths mechanics to catch up on but we're slowly working towards it 😅.
So what I need to do between now and Monday:

Catch up on Exercise 6C, 6D and 8B (Mixed Exercises if I can but realistically I don't have time to)

Revision for Approaches Test this coming Wednesday (with comparison essay confirmed)

Preparation for Senior Maths Challenge this coming Tuesday (thank God I've been doing MAT and TMUA prep though because that helps maintain problem solving mind-set🥳)

Bits and bobs for DofE

NEA CS Coursework - try to finish as much of the Analysis as I can before our soft deadline the upcoming Friday I believe

I hope everyone has had a good week so far!

And relating to this:

Catch up on Exercise 6C, 6D and 8B ✅️ -> as I expected no time for Mixed Exercises so leaving that till upper weekend

Revision for Approaches Test this coming Wednesday (with comparison essay confirmed) ✅️ -> finished off the Approaches Definitions list because it took like 5 sheets filled on both sides to complete 💀 & listened to Psych Boost cover a summary and the different topics up to Cognitive Approaches

Preparation for Senior Maths Challenge ✅️❌️

Bits and bobs for DofE ✅️ -> I'm caught up for this week

NEA CS Coursework ✅️ -> Started my Features of solution section which the features I'm going to keep and reject listed down already. That shouldn't take to long along with the limitations then all I have left is the Computational Methods and success criteria 🥳

Wow! It's wonderful to hear your enjoying, and I've heard that Further Maths is more fun than Maths so wishing you the best for this year🫶

I would agree that Further Maths in fun but I dont think others will feel the same 😅. Wishing you the best as well!

That’s good! Don’t be too hard on yourself, it’s ok to take a break and fall behind deadlines (especially if you’re sick!). I’m veryyy behind on my NEA because of my health but hoping to get quite a bit done over half term!

Yeah you're right that I shouldn't be too hard on myself. I just don't want it creeping up on my and I end up pulling nighters like this to try catch up 💀. I'm having a little break Tues after the SMC to go see my friend so looking forward to that! I hope that you've been feeling better
🤩 hi everyone, 🤩
i was planning to start a vlog channel but then kinda gave up with it, but maybe doing this will motivate me more.
about me:

a levels: Mathematics , further mathematics, computer science and psychology and i did my cyberepq (a*) last year

predicteds: 4a*s (i got 2a*s in cs and psych and a in as further maths in my y12 mocks)

gcses: 9999999998a

i like knitting surprisingly (blame my form tutor), also trying to get back into poetry

my goals:

do my best in my a levels

pass spanish exam (this nov)

get into dream uni 🎓 (and if not, find a place i will be happy with)

secure an internship for next summer (because a girl needs to fund uni somehow)

sort out personal drama

there's also some competitions i want to do well in (like national cipher challenge 👩*💻)

✨️ live love laugh ✨️

i hope this motivates someone and people can use this gyg to avoid making the same mistakes i did and we can learn from each other!

i love national cipher challenge!!!

Today was pretty chill, after the SMC I was working on the maths exercises, psych revision, my NEA coursework.

Tomorrow I plan to:

Go over Approaches topic in free before test

I signed up for this encryption challenge on Ada CS because there's Amazon vouchers on offer 💀 so I'm doing that

Then I got Psych Revision after school

Good luck in your SMC!

Hey, I do remember you! How's it going? I think my revision is going well 😅 . I have mocks in a month so once I get my admissions tests out of the way that'll definitely make life easier.

Yh I'm aiming for Oxford. Good luck with your application! I don't get Biology at all 💀 so massive respect to all the aspiring biologists and medicine students out there!

SMC is short for the Senior Maths Challenge which is a competition run by the UK Maths Trust (UKMT) who are basically a charity looking to improve problem solving and maths fluency in kids. In school you have the three main challenges: Junior for Y7 to Y8, Intermediate for Y9 to Y11 & Senior for Y12 to Y13 I believe. If you do well enough in the Senior Challenge you can be invited to do either Kangaroo or the first Round of the British Mathematical Olympiad. I was quite happy with how it went, I felt like I could have done better though;
something kinda triggered me and I was out of it for a few minutes (cant do maths when you dont have a clear mindset 🤷*♀️)

Today's Done List

Approaches Test ✅️ -> I'm happy with how it went; just exam technique though. I feel like I might loose some marks but I'll see once we get the papers back

Ada CS Encryption Challenges ✅️ -> fairly easy tbh w/ the right tools

PsychSOC powerpoint ✅️ -> I might not have mentioned this before I'm actually one of the leaders for our schools Psychology Society and we alternate leading sessions so I wanted go get ppt done before the weekend

After School Revision ❌️ -> teacher training so it got cancelled 🥳 (I didn't want to do another hour of revision after psych test)

Maths Hwk & Exercises ✅️ -> Pro tip: buses are wonderful vehicles to do homework in 🤩 (unless you get vehicle sickness or easily annoyed by other people)

Yep, it’s done now so no need to overthink it but I’m sure you did great! Hope you manage to take a break and meet up with your friend soon!

Good very early morning 😅,
What I managed to complete over the last week relating to Uni Admissions:

Go over the MAT papers ❌️ -> should do it before my next double free so most likely Wed evening

Go over the feedback from PSM Summer Sheets ✅️ & it was surprisingly quite good! Just need to do a few tweaks

Do MAT 2009 under timed conditions in Double Free ✅️

Senior Maths Practice (because a) it's next week, b) it's good problem solving practice) ✅️❌️ -> this is like a yes/no bc I've done some problems and worked on problem solving but I'm going to spend tomorrow cramming in last min practice which isn't ideal

Go over personal statement and note down key areas I have talked about (which I already did somewhere) and see what extra research I can do around the topic ❌️ -> not high priority rn so leaving that for now

Side Note: I have now gone through the MAT Papers and I'm quite happy with them! Except one year where I failed with like ½ the MCQs 💀 yet my long questions were fine 😅. Ive noted down the questions Im going to reattempt and Ill likely do it this weekend along with the ps thing

CS NEA Coursework -> finish up as much as I can

Yh that's fair and it would have been so annoying to do it after school when you're tired and just want to sleep

i’m doing okay thanks! did my medicine admissions test last month it went average but
better than last year  i’ve decided to go back to school and sit my exams because it’s SO much cheaper than other options available, i really didn’t want to go back since i wanted a new environment plus i would rather keep it private that i’m resitting and i know quite a few of the current year 13s, but i know it’s in my head, i’m just trying to remind myself that it’s a means to an end, i’ll just go in, do my exam and leave. all the best with your mocks, pace yourself you’ve got this!

sending best wishes for oxford! i have no doubts they’ll take you, and loool yes biology is not for the weak fr💔but i do really enjoy it and i’m changing up my revision this time round so i’m excited to see the improvement!

also omg i used to lovee the SMC i knew it as UKMT though haha, my biggest flex to this date is that i got a Gold award in Year 8😛
glad it went okay x

also i’m sorry to hear about the trigger, the message wouldn’t scroll that far down as i was replying! it’s so annoying when things distract you, i got this when doing my first biology paper, it was so awful
when do you get results back?
