SQA Highers for CS at St Andrews

Hello, I am wanting to study cs at St Andrews in the future so in S5 I’m looking at doing Maths, computer science, Physics, accounting and business management (crash higher) the main reason I’m asking is I’m wanting to drop English and would like to know if this is a mistake. if you have any other suggestions for subjects I should take over other subjects then that would be great thanks in advance

This is the exact same subjects I did in S5 expect I did geography instead of ComSci (I didn’t crash BusMan however). You should be fine for entry requirements without H English as they are AAAAB at higher with A in maths and a pass in physics or com sci. For N5 you need a B in English and a B in maths, a science or geography. As I’ve said to many others, I’d say if you are good at memorising stuff, then you have a good chance of an A in higher business. I’d say higher accounts isn’t too much of a step from N5 to higher as you still do things like cash budgets, decision making and IS/SoFP, just at a more advanced level (I actually did better in the higher this year getting 95% compared to 86% at N5 last year even though I roughly did the same amount of revision both years), physics is a hard one for me as some bits I found easy and other bits I found really hard so I’m not going to comment on it too much. Maths is a huge step from N5 to higher, if you don’t start with the past paper questions and revision soon, you’re not going to get that A you require. And I can’t comment on CS as I didn’t do it.
