Failed module resit in First year

Hi, I don't know what to do. I study engineeeing and I failed my resit for Maths (Calc 1) again, due to the resit exam being harder than the January paper. I revised for months tryijg to perfect every technique and I still manage to get below the pass mark and now I have to repeat a year or repeat only the failed module. I am really stressed right now because I am so behind my cohort (2022). I did a foundation year and passed easily and first year was fine, I passed all my other modules except this one maths module that i can't get a grip of. I realised instead of graduating in 2026, i'll be graduating in 2027 which is putting me so off.

I checked next years handbook for my course module and it seems to be that they have revamped the module and combined Calc 1 and 2 together as a 20 credit module, but I am only taking 10 credit module since I passed Calc 2 in Semester 2, and it's putting me off so much because the regulations have now changed for this year.

Has anyone been in my situation before?

I have a meeting tommorow about the results so I can ask questions to the faculty.
You are only required to pass Calc 1 since you have passed Calc 2 already so your uni cannot make you take it again simply because they have merged two 10-credit modules into a 20-credit module. Speak to your course leader and get your union rep involved to ensure the department does not strong arm you into resitting the new 20-credit module. If so, the dept will need to set a resit exam for Calc 1 just for you - they are obligated to do this.

Regarding Calc 1 - you seem to have a mental block on this topic. Seek help/ tutoring from a student that passed to find out how they revised.

You will be graduating in 2027 - accept that fact and move on.

Hi,

I hope your meeting went well.

You should only have to retake the cal 1 module again, since you already have the other 10 credits from cal 2, so it would unnecessary to redo both.

I would highly recommend you speak to your academic tutor or module lead in regards to getting support for passing the module. They should be able to sit down and go through it with you and see which aspects your struggling with. There's no harm in asking for help!
