Yes.

Yeah you can. I will note that the combination of economics and business may be disliked by certain unis due to overlap. Also oxbridge/imperial want further maths (but if you aren't applying to those don't worry about it).
It’s a yes from me.

Thank you all! Another query I have is, if it’s ok to apply two routes for direct and foundation entry for the same stream in one uni application?

You can, but it’s best to check with the uni first as they may consider you for the FY automatically if they can’t offer you direct entry. No point wasting a choice.

Hi @Vijaya h ,

I'm Joshua, a 3rd year Comp Sci student at the University of Southampton.

The regular course only requires you to have A level maths, which as you are studying maths means you can apply for it! I've got a couple of friends who started this degree course with me who didn't take Computer Science A level, but they are doing brilliantly. Computer Science at Southampton doesn't require A level Computing, as all the first year modules are designed to bring all the students to the same level of knowledge for things like the coding and theory regardless of their prior education.

On the other hand, the foundation year course is designed for students who don't have the required subjects (in this case maths) so you would not be eligible to apply for them as you are studying maths.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Joshuva. So for foundation Maths must not be taken in 3 subjects, correct? Is this rule for all the universities?

No it isn't. Some universities (like Lancaster) only need a grade 6 in GCSE Maths to be considered for the course.
