personal statement soas
writing a personal statement for BA Korean, and ah its so difficult.. I keep comparing it to others but they all look so much more sophisticated. I also mentioned my knowledge of the Goryeo Dynasty, is this a good idea or should i mention more recent events? My 2yr gap year has really made me forget how to write properly TT I have 300 words so far, but I know I need to make it really unique and enticing as my grades are awful TTTTTTTT

For your gap year, highlight what you gained from it—skills, personal growth, or how it deepened your passion for Korean studies. Even if your grades aren’t great, SOAS values genuine interest and motivation, so let that shine through. Be yourself, and focus on why this course matters to you!
