GCSE History Remark

Hi. I’m 3 marks off an 8 in History. My history teacher thinks one of the papers was marked a little harshly and has suggested a remark. I’d love an 8! But I was only 8 marks off a 6. Is there a chance it could go down that much?

If they dropped you 8 marks, that would be like a whole question! You'd hope that wouldn't happen, especially if your teacher says it was marked harshly. The advice on google says if you're close to the top of the grade boundary then you should go for it, and you are closer to the top than the bottom. 🙂

I’d say remark it as it wouldn’t usually go down 6 marks if your teacher thought it was marked harshly.

For History (Edexcel at least) they only give you extra marks if you were in the wrong band in the question. For example, if you were in lower band 3 and you gained 2 but with these extra marks you are still in band 3 they would not give you any extra marks as you are in the correct band. (Hopefully you understand this explanaton)
