is it worth reapplying for next year or should I just go through clearing?

I recently got my level results back and I was 1 grade off what I needed to get into my firm, I got an offer from my insurance choice but I still have my heart set on my firm even if it means potentially doing a foundation year, I'm currently on a gap year between sixth form and uni so I have the choice to reapply but Im just scared that if I reapply I won't get into my firm and forfeiting my offer won't be worth it, does anyone have any advice for what I should do?
Why is you Firm Uninso important to you? Be very honest with yourself about this.
Is it 'better Uni' snobbery? Or do you think you are 'too good' for your Insurance Uni?

my firm is in Sheffield and my insurance is in London and although I think it'd be an amazing opportunity to study in London I can't really justify spending so much more to get the same qualification. when I was first deciding, London was going to be my firm but after seeing both schools in person I realised Sheffield suits me a lot more personally, money aside there seems to be more community in Sheffield compared to London and after spending a lot of time commuting to and from London this year for concerts and days out I realised I found simply existing in London extremely overwhelming not to mention super expensive. in an ideal world id love to accept the London offer but I just don't feel it's right for me at this current period of my life
You have given very good reasons for your choice - and I would agree with all the downsides you have identified about studying in London. And if you dont want to go there to study then withdraw from that deferred place now and have a rethink.

You should only reapply to Sheffield for the main degree if you are prepared to resit to get the grades they want - if its only 1 subject and 1 grade that is do-able if you want it badly enough to put in the work. From their website it would appear that the Foundation year is only for those with non-standard entry qualifications" which usually means older students returning to education, and not school-leavers who just missed their A level grades. You need to call Sheffield and clarify this - there is no point in applying if they will automatically reject you.

Yes, you could cancel your Insurance place and reapply to 5 new choices that match your achieved grades.
Or you can resit one A level to get the grades Sheffield wants for the main degree and include Sheffield in those 5 choices.
