Leaving uni before it starts

This question is half in curiosity and half in actual desire to do so

My first day at university starts in 2 weeks, what would happen if I decided I do not want to go anymore. Primarily what would happen to the financial side of things? Would I still have to pay for the first term of tuition? Will my maintenance loan be cancelled and not given to me?

p.s. please don't give any "why do you want to leave before you started?" I've thought about this for ages and I really don't want to talk about it

Have you enrolled?

You should decline the place now if you haven't enrolled.

I have enrolled. After looking at a lot of posts on here I think I will try out term 1 and see if it is for me.

Similar to my previous question, what would happen with the tuition fee and maintenance loan if I drop out before term 2?

Your uni informs SFE when you officially withdraw and further payments will be stopped. SFE will calculate if you have had any overpayments (if you been paid for more weeks than you have been in attendance) on your maintenance loan and you will have to pay it back if you have. And, despite having studied for only one term, you will have used a year of funding entitilement. This means that if you start another course elsewhere and you have to retake a year, you would have to fund the retake year.

You might also be required to pay your accommodation fees for the whole year despite dropping out. Check your contract.
