She was an early applicant but they appear to be coming out in dribs and drabs so I’m sure you’ll hear soon - good luck 🤞🏻

Mine too. So pleased for you. Lots of decisions to be made as she also got accepted at UCL and Royal Holloway but Courtauld was the one she originally wanted.

Well done for your daughter. The Courtauld is INFINITELY preferable to both UCL and Royal Holloway for HoA.

hi all, i got an offer from the courtauld a few days ago and im debating making it my insurance! part of me thinks it may be too high for an insurance since they need AAA. I'm not worried about achieving in As or A*s in English and Art but I normally get between B and A on maths ☹️ so I could very plausibly miss the A in maths. does anyone know if the courtauld would be more lenient at all on results day? assuming I get A*/As in my other two subjects (which are more relevant to the course anyway tbh compared to maths). thanks!

The Courtauld is IME quite likely to be a bit lenient on Maths, especially if you achieve an A* in English.

What offer do you want to firm? And what are the conditions?

This is very likely to be the case but I'm slightly concerned there has been no communication from the Courtauld since her application and I also emailed a while back with an enquiry and never got a response. Even the offer wasn't direct but through UCAS. Concerns me slightly.

apparently there's been some communication issues with their internal system - hence the lack of communication!

The Courtauld is a very small institution and just doesn't have the administrative bandwidth of a big university. It's fine once you are there. It's also entirely normal for communications from universities to be solely through UCAS. The big universities have portals for communications but this is a very recent development and not, IMO, necessarily particularly helpful.

Cambridge for A*AA which is only one grade abv courtauld if i choose it as insurance tbh. I also love leeds for the city and year in industry option + i have a very reduced offer of BBC for that so thats in consideration as well for insurance

Leeds is a very reduced HoA experience versus the Courtauld though. Just no comparison.

I understand the prestige and quality of the courtauld but am also taking into account personal factors like how much the city and uni resonated with me and living costs  if london isn't feasible, it isn't feasible. i have also met some amazing alumni from there who had great things to say about the university and HoA experience. i am planning to do a masters so opportunities are still open!

I spoke to somebody who got rejected from Cambridge, went to Leeds instead and absolutely loved it. They are now doing their Masters at Cambridge, which they chose over the Courtauld. Only tangentially relevant, but interesting!

History of Art Masters at Cambridge and the Courtauld are fundamentally different - Cambridge is an MPhil research degree whereas Courtauld is a taught MA. They serve quite different purposes.
