University application help

I am currently in year 12 and I haven't done anything that I think would really help for my application other Than:
- mma (work+member)
- one month work experience medical
- d of e
- programme aspire
- Cambridge residential
I don’t know what degree I want to do and therefore I don’t know where to focus my extracurriculars on, I’m doing chem maths economics

You do realize your current subject combination means you cannot apply to/be competitive for the following at Cambridge? Medicine, Natural Sciences, economics, maths, computer science, psychological and behavioural sciences, vet med... Read different course entry requirements and descriptions see what seems most interesting and make sure you're taking the right subjects.

Honestly my GCSEs were too low to be accepted in Cambridge unless I worked insanely hard, I’m aiming for a lower ranked uni tbh, however I thought maths + chem would be good for dentistry/medicine and for econ/finance I thought maths + economics would work? What do you think would make me more competitive

You've posted in the Cambridge forum, so it's natural for people reading your post to assume that you're a potential Cambridge applicant 🙂 As an aside, it's a really bad idea to fix on a university and then try to find a subject to apply for!

So, do some research and try to identify a subject that you really enjoy or could see yourself studying for 3 years. THEN look at unis that offer that course, make sure you're taking the "right" A levels, and think about your predicted grades against the entry requirements for some target unis.

If you're only looking at "lower ranked" unis then things are less critical as you move down the rankings, but note that for Cambridge, for example, the lack of a 3rd STEM subject rules you out of NatSci and the lack of Further Maths makes you uncompetitive for Economics.

You have posted this in the Cambridge uni forum, you'd probably need to post this elsewhere. For most other unis yeah you're fine but that's why I came in with Cambridge requirements!

Do you think without further maths I could still get in somehow? Such as in LSE
