I got 9 A1s in my N5s and the main tip is start making revision notes (in my case, flashcards) early in the year. When you get to exams, having a set of flashcards to easily and quickly revise the entire course is very useful. Past papers are obviously useful and you should not just do the papers, but also look for questions that come up every year and memorise the marking schemes (for example, there is always an adding vectors question in Physics and the marking scheme is always the same). Try to do as many papers as you can under exam time to get use to the pressure. For English specifically, try to read as many articles as you can and look up every word you don't know the definition of while you read them. This is very useful for RUAE. Mrsphysics is a great website for Physics and national5mathematics is great for Maths. Otherwise, just try to ace your Prelims so you aren't trying to catch up in the few months before your exams (which go by so fast).

Hi I got all A1 this year for my Nat 5s (apart from mods which I got an A2). Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Maths, English, French, Modernstudies.

For maths i recommend getting the hodder Gibson how to pass Nat 5 maths book, and for YouTube channel use “Clelland maths” he even has a 5 hour video for all of applications of maths.

For physics use mr Mitchell physics on YouTube and again get the how to pass physics hodder Gibson book.

For English, READ READ READ. Read as many articles in the guardian as they use real life articles for the RUAE paper. For the folio I did persuasive but just make sure to plan before hand and use lots of tone etc. Pretend you are writing an RUAE paper. for critical reading remember some quotes.

For general advice if you like to use notes (I did) start making your notes and flash cards now. Until December I focused on learning the content and then in January I started past papers. Good luck!

For past papers JABCHEM is good as it has all the maths, apps of maths and science papers.

Hi! I know im a bit late for this pole or whatever it’s called, so sorry abt that 😭. But as a Person who got all A1s at national 5 I have advice for you!, for English I mostly completed past papers as revision, flashcards for critical essays are a great help! I mostly struggled with RUAE, but practicing helps a lot, also looking at SQA understanding standards helps you grasp an idea of how ideal answers look too! You can look at candidate evidence and commentaries! And a great folio is good to have aswell to push that mark up!.
Physics was one of my favourite Nat 5s, past papers where very helpful for revision and flash cards, as well as note taking from memory then checking my jotters to see what info I had missed then revising weak areas.
Maths is just past paper after past paper unfortunately, :frown:
But overall I would just encourage you to work hard! And keep aiming high! If prelims don’t go to plan then don’t worry as they don’t affect your final mark, and don’t worry to much either, but also just a reminder that B’s and C’s are great grades to obtain aswell so don’t overwhelm yourself !
