should i talk about my parents divorce in my personal statement for law?

I’m thinking of applying to lse ucl and imperial for law and i have to write my personal statement.

Do universities like it if i talk about my parents divorce during my alevels and gcses and how it affected my personal and academic life and how it has encouraged me to pursue law .

i’m doing economics maths biology and predicted A* (economics) A A ,

My Gcses results are fairly average,

English lit-9
English language-8
Maths-7
Biology -7
chemistry-7
physics-7
Geography-7
Computer scince-6
French-4
Imperial College, London, does not offer law.

You could write about whatever you wish, but something along the lines of "I wish to study law because my parents had a legal dispute/went through a legal process" is (1) not a great reason for wishing to study law, and (2) may communicate to an admissions tutor that you are processing a (probably) traumatic life event rather than addressing the subject to be studied.

Although if you can link it to you reading something to do with family law or custody of children or some sort of legal debate that would be great! Definitely shouldn't be the main point but more a way to segway into actual legal topics
You could. But if you’re using it as your extenuating circumstances, the teacher doing your reference is usually the one who writes it.
