Is computer science a good subject to pursue?

I'm doing my gcses right now and i'm thinking of doing something computer science based but i've seen many people talking about how they did computer science in uni but it was difficult to get well paying/ decent jobs after uni. Is that true? if not what are the options for computer science students after uni.

An average salary with someone with a CS degree is £33K on average. That's pretty decent and on par with other STEM degrees.

Regarding what kind of jobs there and what industries hire such graduates it's best to have a look through the actual job sites like the Gradcracker as they are targeted towards STEM students.
Internships (after 2nd year onwards) - https://www.gradcracker.com/search/computing-technology/work-placements-internships
Graduate jobs (after graduation) - https://www.gradcracker.com/search/computing-technology/graduate-jobs

Also, the job market for software engineering and coding side of things is quite saturated at the moment and there is a lot of competition, and therefore lots of companies nitpicking the candidates to pick the best, but don't let that discourage you from doing what you may enjoy. As someone who hires STEM students every year I can confidently say that 90% of applications are very sub par to say the least, or speaking more directly - either do not qualify completely or fail to demonstrate any sufficient or even minimal knowledge in the subject they study, which is quite surprising to me as how do you pass exams but fail to answer the most basic questions. Anyway, I digress...
Wanted to add that many such students apply for work in the companies mainly in digital space and the big tech, but completely ignore that there are hundreds if not thousands companies in all other industries who all need great engineers (CS included), such as aerospace, automotive, healthcare, energy, transportation, building and constructions, etc., etc., where the competition is not that dire.

Hopefully that helps, feel free to ask any more questions, I'll be happy to help
