Maths degree scrapped at Hull

What on earth are Hull thinking?

Maths departments are being scrapped while less important subjects are flourishing due to the glut of less serious students the goverment are forcing into further education.

Surely the goverment need to wake up and do something to save important subjects like Maths and the physical sciences.

Apparently universities will make more profit from students doing 'soft subjects'. I think its quite disappointing this is happening as subjects like Maths are extremely important. What some people don't realise is Maths can be linked to so many other subjects like the subject I have applied for and the fact its part of many other subjects highlights its importance. There's already a shortage of Maths teachers!
