Hello,
That's amazing - I hope you get accepted into the course.
I was on the Sutton Trust Pathways programme as well.
Experience is never wasted because you always learn something: whether you really enjoy a particular course or you realise a course isn't suited for you. If you end up deciding in Year 13 that you are not interested in the course that you applied for on the Pathways Progamme that is ok, you can just let Sutton Trust know and they can support you. The point of the programme is so that students can learn more about each career path and decide if it is well-suited for them.
The Sutton Trust Pathways programme is not the be all and end all, you will continue to gain experience afterwards and actually, when you apply to university or give interviews later down the line and you are asked why you would like to study the course of your choice, you will be able to say that you gained experience at course 'X' and be able to really explain how you have looked into other courses and realised that your interests did not lie there.
The programme will open doors for you to other opportunities and a new network that will stay with you once you finish school and join the alumni network. There you will find support and opportunities once you're at university and this support is not limited to the course you applied for when you entered the programme.
I hope this helps!
Wishing you all the best,
Marjaan
