Hi so I’ll be graduating as a children’s nurse in the year 2026, however I am just wondering if I am able to go into a monday-friday job rather the 12 hour long shifts? Please someone help Thankyou
The Royal College of Nursing have some useful resources around working/shift patterns and roles that may align more to core hours. Take a look at this webpage for some of the roles they suggest, and perhaps do a little bit of research into these roles 🙂

What qualifications do you need to be a school nurse UK..... You can apply to become a school nurse if you're a registered nurse or midwife. You'll usually need to do an approved programme in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing - School Nursing. This approved programme can take 1 to 2 years to complete.
Have you thought about doing outpatient department nursing in the children's hospital as they work Monday to Friday between 8am - 6pm with you having a day of during the week plus free weekends. You'll work average of 9 hours a day as a outpatient department nurse full time.
Community nursing is similar to working in a hospital ward as you have the district nursing team who works similar hours and shift patterns as a hospital ward nurse. Community nurse working in a GP surgery works during the opening hours of the GP surgery ( Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm with you having a day off during the week plus free weekends) - some GP surgeries might require you to do additional training as part of offering you the job.
